Since 2010, we’ve been working to reduce the educational inequality that holds too many children back. Our journey began through Teach First, where we taught and led in inner-city schools, seeing both the immense potential of students and the systemic barriers they face.
What we discovered was clear:
Great teaching changes lives—but access to personalised support remains deeply unequal.
We saw how private tutoring was accelerating progress for wealthier students while those from lower-income families were left behind—not because of a lack of potential, but a lack of opportunity.
That’s why we created our Step Ahead Science – to take what we learned and use it to level the playing field.
